Silent Hill and footage from real life: the authors of The Callisto Protocol spoke about the sources of inspiration

Studio Striking Distance spoke about the sources of inspiration when working on space horror The Callisto Protocol . According to Chris Stone, chief creative officer of the studio and former head of animation for Dead Space , the game was influenced not only by games and movies.

Stone mentioned the Silent Hill and Resident Evil series as “obvious examples”. Recalling cinematography, he named the films “The Thing” and “Through the Horizon”, as well as the work of French and Korean directors.

However, the most valuable source was footage from real life – Stone noted that the studio saw many terrible examples of cruelty. It was hard to work with such material, but it helped to create realistic visual effects.

We will see the results of the work on December 2, when the game will be released.
