Bloober Team’s new horror at Summer Game Fest is in Unreal Engine 5

It was in the air, but now it’s official: Layers of Fears , the new psychological horror game developed by Bloober Team, showed up during the Summer Game Fest .

The news was partially known, given that the development team who also authored The Medium (which you can find on Amazon at a great price) had shared a rather explanatory image of its new game, just a few days ago.

Leaving aside the alleged remake of Silent Hill 2 , it seemed quite clear that the project in the works was the third installment in the Layers of Fear series .

The trailer that can be viewed just below shows a game that seems to embrace the classic and chilling atmospheres seen in the first two episodes of the franchise.

Between puzzles and terrifying mysteries to be solved while being careful not to go crazy, Layers of Fears will use all the power of Unreal Engine 5 .

However, it seems equally clear that this new adventure will not be a real direct follow-up to the previous chapters: from what it was possible to understand, the Polish team has in fact promised a new approach to fear , framing the saga from a rather different point of view. compared to the past.

Piotr Babien, CEO of Bloober Team, also declared during the Summer Game Fest 2022 that the game will give the public a completely original experience , with a new approach that will explain the reason behind the plural of the title Layers of Fears (the curiosity, therefore, is really great).

We just have to wait for the next few weeks (or rather, the next few months) to find out all the news on the horror title of Bloober.

The game will be released in the course of 2023 , and will be exclusive to current-gen platforms, namely PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S and PC .
